Piña Colada's Story
San Juan, Puerto Rico is the birthplace of the original Piña Colada. This signature summer drink was created in 1954 by the acclaimed bartender Ramón “Monchito” Marrero from a fruity fusion of rum, pineapple juice and coconut cream. During his 30 years of residence at the Caribe Hilton he served the Piña Colada with his original recipe making it one of the most popular summer cocktails in history. The Piña Colada is now the official drink of Puerto Rico and one of Coppa Cocktails preferred cocktail treats for warm summer days.
